Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it. Loaning money is bad business. Never ever loan money to anyone unless you want to get rid of that person. #16 on the 25 Things Every Woman Should Know in 2010 stresses this principle. I make it a policy to never loan money to friends and family. No, it's not because I'm stingy (besides I really don't have it like that to hand out money), it's because of the many lessons I've learned from past experience.
When you loan people money, they are so sweet, sincere, and grateful for your help yadda yadda. When it's time for them to pay you back, you either don't hear from that person, or they get a mysterious attitude about the money they owe you. Recently, I broke my own rule, and now I'm kicking myself because money has separated me and a so-called friend (can you say AWOL). It's not worth it to lose a friend. BTW, if you borrow money and don't pay it back shame on you.
